Writing Centre Reports
There are obvious problems with the first report, but is there anything that bothers you/that you feel is missing from the 'model'?
St. Martin's: "Subjectivity"
I found it really interesting when Freed brought up the issue of students from another culture. As a Bahamian, I can see how some of my own value systems or even the lens through which I view the world could affect my writing and in a consultation cause not necessarily a problem but perhaps spark a conversation. Have you ever had this kind of experience with an international peer?
Bedford Chp. 2
How has reading this chapter affected, if at all, your perception of your own writing process? Do you think you will be more conscious of what you do now/try and incoporate some or all of these instructions?

Bedford Question:
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this chapter I began to think about my writing process and how it compared to the process described by Bedford. I found myself realizing that the steps presented in this chapter were very similar to how I prepare and organize when writing my own papers. However, I found it interesting to now have a name behind every step that I go through, such as "global revision" for when I am editing broader errors in my paper such as content or organization. I had never really thought of my editing process as having four components, but now i realize that I do exhibit all the ones described in this chapter. I think that these steps presented should be further enforced so that when students are writing they will think about it as a step-by-step process, making the actual writing process seem less intimidating and manageable.
